Lifting of Measures in Greece

The Greek Government has announced the relaxing of the following measures starting on June 28th:

  • The current night curfew in place from 1.30am to 5.30am will be removed on Monday 28 June;
  • Drivers may only carry two passengers in their vehicle (non-household members must wear masks), except in the case of families with young children;
  • Workers will no longer be required to regularly test themselves for COVID-19 provided they completed a full course of vaccination no less than 15 days ago
  • Restaurants may seat up to 10 persons at a table
  • Up to 300 people will be permitted in outdoor reception venues
  • 120 people per 1,000 square meters (3280 square feet) are allowed in organized beaches

Additionally:

  • As of June 24, 2021 it is no longer compulsory to wear a mask in outdoor areas, except in congested places. While in it is mandatory to wear a mask at all times in indoor spaces.

Lifting of Measures in Greece

The Greek Government has announced the relaxing of measures starting on June 12th:

  • night curfew will begin at 01:30 (until 5am) instead of 00:30 as it is today. The curfew will remain in place until July 1on the condition that the epidemiological data allow it to be abolished.
  • restaurants, cafes and bars will be allowed to play only in outdoor areas of food & beverage (F&B) venues that host seated customers
  • restaurants and other F&B establishments in ventilated galleries will be allowed to operate, under the condition that they have separate entrance and exit doors.
  • the audience capacity for venues hosting live shows and theatre performances in outdoor spaces will increase from 50 percent to 75 percent when the venue has a capacity to seat up to 1,000 people; to 70 percent for up to 5,000 seats; and to 65 percent for up to 15,000 seats. Venues with a capacity for over 15,000 guests can strictly host up to 10,000 people. In all cases mask wearing is mandatory.

 Additionally:

  • from July the limit of guests at weddings and baptisms will rise from 100 to 300.
  • local street fairs will be allowed to operate only in the regional units where the percentage of vaccinated residents is from 50 percent and above.
  • stores selling mobile phones in areas that cover 100 square meters can service up to 4 customers at the same time.

  • night curfew will begin at 12:30pm (until 5am) instead of 11pm as it is today.
  • all museums will reopen. Social distancing rules will apply
  • requesting permission for movement via SMS to 13033 and 13032 will be lifted
  • restrictions on domestic travel (movement between regions) will be lifted. Rules will apply (see below).
  • the “click away” and “click in shop” methods of shopping in retail stores will be lifted. Social distancing rules will continue to apply (one customer per 25 square meters in stores will continue to apply).

 Additionally:

  • cafes and bars will continue to operate without music until May 29
  • open-air cinemas will reopen on May 21(on a 75 percent capacity)
  • live cultural events and shows in outdoor areas (only with seated guests) will resume operation on May 28.
  • day care centers will reopen on May 17

Travelling Between Regions

People in Greece (residents and foreign visitors) will be allowed to travel between regions by ferry or plane only if they have one of the following:

  • a vaccination certificate (stating that 14 days have passed since full vaccination for Covid-19)
  • a negative PCR test performed less than three days (72 hours)
  • a negative rapid antigen test taken 24 hours prior to travel
  • a negative self-test taken 24 hours prior to travel.

Covid-19 Measures in Rhodes

Greece will open for Tourism on May 14. It is expected that the Greek Government will announce the relaxing of measures in the following week.

  • On Monday, May 3, the outdoor areas of restaurants, cafes and all F&B establishments will reopen under health rules that include frequent mandatory self-testing for employees and social distancing measures.
  • On Monday, May 3 night curfew will begin at 11pm (until 5am) instead of 9pm as it is today.
  • Travelling restrictions will not be lifted for the celebrations of the Greek Orthodox Easter falling on May 2 in an aim to control further spread. During Holy Week (April 26- May 1), curfew will begin at 22:00 (until 5am) instead of 21:00 as it is today. On Easter Day the curfew will begin at 21:00.
  • On Monday, May 10, junior high schools and primary schools will reopen. Mandatory self-testing for Covid-19 will apply for all students, teachers and administrative staff. Health and safety rules will apply in classrooms.
  • On Saturday, May 15, travel between Greek regions will be allowed. Also, as previously announced, tourism will reopen for visitors who have been fully vaccinated or have been tested negative to Covid-19. Also, some cultural activities will be allowed.

#StaySafe at Elakati

Following the National Public Health Organization’s guidelines, we have implemented various measures to ensure the safety of our guests and staff. Below is a summary of our current cleaning and sanitizing policies:

  • Staff training in order to adapt to the measures and to implement procedures according to the National Public Health Organization.
  • Face masks are required for staff and guests in public areas.
  • Regular temperature checks for staff
  • Self – test for Covid -19 on a regular basis for staff
  • Floors marked for social distancing
  • Disinfected gel has been placed in the entrance of the hotel, outside the elevator in the lounge, public bathrooms and in each room.  Guests are reminded and encouraged to disinfect their hands with disinfectant gel.
  • All table arrangement have been adjusted to 1.5 m distance from each other in the.
  • All dishes, silverware, and glassware are washed and disinfected in a dish washing machine, including items that have not been used.
  • Special attention is being given to the application of cleaning and disinfection measures in common areas such as restrooms, halls, corridors, lifts, as well as to objects that are frequently touched such as handles, elevator buttons, handrails, switches, doorknobs, etc.
  • There will be an A La Carte Menu for Breakfast instead of our usual Breakfast Buffet, as recommended by the National Public Health Organization.
  • If you wish to eat breakfast in your room, we offer Free Room Service.
  • Breakfast Hours have been changed from 7:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
  • We have changed the hours of Check-in and Check-out, in order to thoroughly sterilize each room before arrivals. Check-in starts from 15:00 and Check-out is at 11:00.
  • Key cards are sterilized before every arrival and after departure.
  • Sheets, blankets, washcloths, hand and bath towels are washed in hot cycles (70ºC) in our hotel’s laundry facilities, including items that have not been used.
  • Chlorination, PH adjustment, cleaning and disinfection of the hydro-massage facilities in Helios Suite and Iviskos Suite are in accordance with current legislation.
  • Removal of Mini-Bar items.
  • Removal of Menus in the room. Menus will be sent via email to guests upon arrival.

Covid-19 Measures in Rhodes

Greece will open for Tourism on May 14. It is expected that the Greek Government will announce the relaxing of measures in the following week.

Measures In Place

As Greece is preparing to welcome visitors again there are still measures in place in an effort to stop the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). These are the following:

  • Face masks must be worn in public areas (indoors and outdoors).
  • A night curfew is in place from 21:00 to 05:00. You may only go outside these hours for work, health emergencies or pet walking near your place of residence. Night workers will need to carry official documentation and in the case of the last 2 reasons, you will be required to send a 13033-citizen movement text (see below).
  • Museums, galleries, cinemas, gyms, and sporting facilities are currently closed.
  • Essential shops and services are open with capacity restrictions and social distancing measures in place. Such are: supermarkets, bakeries, pharmacies, petrol stations, medical providers.
  • Restaurants, bars and catering businesses are temporarily closed but you can still get takeaway and delivery.
  • Hairdressers, barbers, beauty and nail salons are open with capacity restrictions and social distancing measures in place.
  • All other retail outlets are open via “click in shop” and “click away” by using the SMS text code of 13032 (see more details in next section).
  • Drivers may only carry two passengers in their vehicle (non-household members must wear masks), except in the case of families with young children.
  • Open – Air archaeological sites are open with strict protocols.
  • Public parks are open. Μass gatherings must be avoided. You can visit them in groups of a maximum of 3 persons
  • Fishing is allowed for people living near the seaside.
  • Churches operate with a maximum of 1 person / 25m2.
  • Religious gatherings, weddings and funerals can be held with a restriction of 9 persons
  • During the weekends and only on weekends, you may move between municipalities for physical exercise with a vehicle. There is a restriction of 3 persons per vehicle (exception for immediate family members) while mass gatherings must be avoided. For the rest of the week, you may move only within your municipality.
  • Neighborhood markets (laiki) operate at 50% capacity.
  • Citizen Movement texts are mandatory.

Non-compliance with measures carries a 300€ fine.

Movement around Rhodes with a 13033 SMS text message 

During lockdown, you will need to text 13033 to state your name, address, and the purpose of your outing with one of the corresponding numbers below.

The SMS must be in the following format:

X [blank] full name and home address

where X is the reason for movement 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 corresponding to the following reasons:

  1. Doctor’s visits or visit to pharmacies.
  2. Shopping for basic necessities (supermarkets, bakeries, pharmacies, petrol stations, etc)
  3. Banks (for non-online operations only).
  4. Leaving home to provide assistance to family members, especially the elderly and children.
  5. To attend social events such as funerals, weddings etc at specific hours outlined by the Government directive (restrictions apply).
  6. Going out for exercise near place of residence (up to three people), walking dogs and feeding strays. Movement outside of your municipality is permitted on weekends; during the week, you may only move within your municipality under a number 6 code;.  Visits to archaeological sites and fishing also now fall under this category.

Shopping in Rhodes with a 13032 SMS text message

Retail shops are open by appointment “click in shop” where shoppers can enter the store or by “click away” where shoppers can pick up their order. One customer per 25 sq.m. is allowed and there is a 3-hour time limit.

A blank text message must be sent to 13032. Only one text per day is allowed for shopping at retail shops.

  • There will be an A La Carte Menu for Breakfast instead of our usual Breakfast Buffet, as recommended by the National Public Health Organization.

Elakati Luxury Boutique Hotel would like to inform you, that the Greek government has announced that the  operation of year-round hotels in Greece will resume on June 1, 2020.

Greece has managed to handle the spread of the pandemic by imposing severe social distancing measures in an early stage with a full lockdown on March 23rd .

The steady decline in cases has lead Greece to plan a gradual relaxation of lockdown measures that will take place in seven stages starting from May 4th.  The government announced on Tuesday April 29, that hotels operating 12 months a year will open on June 1st 2020.

A series of specific regulations will be implemented to ensure the safety of our guests, team and members of our community.We will continue to monitor the situation and fully comply with the government’s directions to implement all hygiene and safety protocols.

If there should be any additional restrictions or changes to the current announcement applied by health authorities, we will inform you as soon as possible.

 Flexible Policy – Reschedule until 2021

Given the circumstances we would like to inform all our valuable guests that we have adjusted our policies to help you reschedule your dream holidays in Rhodes.

Existing Reservations

1. All reservations with Standard Rate policy that were completed before March 15th with arrival date from March 15th until June 30th are entitled to be rescheduled upon availability for stays until November 30th 2021, or to be cancelled without penalty, up to 24hours before arrival date.

2. All the Non-Refundable Rate reservations that were completed before March 15th with arrival date from March 15th until June 30th are entitled to be rescheduled for stays until November 30th 2021 upon availability without penalty and according to the initial reservation’s terms (Non-Refundable Policy).

Future Reservations

Thus, Elakati Luxury Boutique Hotel will be closed until April 30, 2020. Restrictions have been made in flights, ferries, while businesses have been temporarily shut down. This includes businesses in the hospitality sector, as well as museums, restaurants, bars, cafeterias, shops and public services.
